Our story

The story of JLB Expertises begins in Marseille, a major commercial port and historical entry point for many agricultural raw materials.

Pierre Barral, rice broker, takes the oath

It lays the foundations for a professional culture based on product knowledge, rigorous observations, and independent judgment.

Germain Barral and then Maurice Barral

They continue and develop the activity on agricultural raw materials arriving in Marseille for semolina mills, flour mills, rice mills, oil mills, soap factories and processing plants.

1906-1951

Jean-Loup Barral

It gives new impetus to the firm, notably by strengthening activity related to cocoa, the prevention of transport risks from producing countries and the monitoring of rice unloadings.

1975

Birth of JLB Expertises

Opening of the first branch in Ivory Coast, the starting point for structured international development.

Accelerating deployment in Africa

Opening of new facilities, development of quality control, creation of a laboratory in Madagascar and progressive expansion of expertise.
